3. Get Involved with MAPS
There are many ways to contribute your time, talents, or feedback for the development of our organization and network. Reach out to get started with any of the opportunities below based on your skills, experience, interests, and bandwidth.
1. Share your Feedback
MAPS is eager to learn from our members about what is going well, what your challenges are, and how we can be the organization you need us to be in this moment. If you had received MAPS Academy individual career support, kindly complete this anonymous evaluation survey on your experience so that we may continue to improve the support we offer our members.
2. Join MAPS Leadership
MAPS is entirely powered by passionate volunteers serving on our National Board and its committees. We are always looking for talented and committed individuals to contribute their time and skills to execute our mission and grow our community. If you have the qualifications and bandwidth, kindly submit your interest and we will reach out if there is a fit with our needs.
3. Lead a Professional Community of Practice
MAPS convenes several Communities of Practice (COPs) that connect members based on common public service career tracks, facilitating career panels, skill sharing, and advancement services across all levels and branches of government. If you have the qualifications and bandwidth, apply to serve as a Chief or Deputy Chief of Practice.
4. Become a Career Counsellor or Mentor
The MAPS Career Counselling Program offer members ad hoc guidance from qualified resources from a range of seniority levels for short, one-off sessions, while our Mentorship Program collects the senior most professionals, executives, and officials in our network for a several month engagement with candidates that are matched to them by MAPS.
5. Become a MAPS Institutional Representative
MAPS members serving in Federal, State, and local government departments and agencies, or their respective legislative and judicial branches may serve as MAPS institutional representatives at their public institutions. These liaisons represent the concerns of their fellow public servants to their management and can serve as MAPS programming resources.
6. Start or Help Lead a State Committee
MAPS is driven at the State level by amazing leaders and organizers that support our community across their home states via local programs and services coordinated by MAPS National. We invite you to express your interest in joining one of our nine State committees as positions open up, or helping launch a new communities in your state by signing up below.
7. Start a MAPS Chapter at Your Agency
MAPS Chapter Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) develop community and work with management to address mission-related issues. Many State and local government institutions offer support and recognition to staff associations that represent employees of a protected group. MAPS helps members build thriving communities in their workplaces.
8. Register as a MAPS Speaker or Expert
Share your time, talents, and knowledge with our community through the MAPS Academy learning platform, or as a speaker or panelist for future MAPS or partner events. MAPS also refers its senior members to partner events and conferences as speakers and instructors.
9. Register as a Resume Reviewer or Mock Interviewer
Share your specialized career skills with our community through the core MAPS Academy services, including our incredibly popular and successful one-on-one resume reviews. our interview support, and other specialized yet vital instructional offerings. Contact our Professional Development Committee to learn more and start sharing your talents.

MAPS relies on our incredible and constantly growing national network to fulfil its mission of supporting Muslim American public servants and building pipelines to public service for all Muslim Americans. Do your part by sharing our website, with your network, promoting MAPS on social media, or suggesting new organizational partners by contacting outreach@mapsnational.org.

Fuel our mission of supporting the career, workplace, and community development of Muslim American public servants, and help us expand and harness the rich, collective contributions of Muslim Americans across government. Your support also helps us keep MAPS membership and programming accessible to all. MAPS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations are fully tax-deductible.
