Divisive rhetoric does not go harmless. When our leaders frame America as two opposing worlds defined by color, religion, or identity, it creates an “us” and “them” where there should be a shared sense of belonging.

We reject the idea that there is only one way to look American. Muslim Americans are an integral part of this country. We are public servants, community leaders, neighbors, parents, and colleagues. Let’s be clear about the America we believe in and work every day to build. America is not defined by one color, one religion, or one way of life. It is defined by all of us and by our shared commitment to ensuring that people of different faiths, backgrounds, and identities can belong, serve, lead, and thrive together.
