Muslim Americans in Public Service (MAPS) held its fifth annual DC Iftar, bringing together hundreds of our members across all levels and branches of government, their families, and MAPS partners to break their fast as a community.
The National Iftar is our biggest and most anticipated in person event of the year, and this year it was generously cosponsored by our esteemed partners at Helping Hands for Relief and Development, Guidance Residential, Muslim Public Affairs Council, De Lune Corp, Amana Mutual Funds Trust, the Islamic Scholarship Fund, and the Georgetown University Muslim Law Student Association (MLSA).
The 2026 Iftar featured Kareem Ismail (Senior Economist, International Monetary Fund (IMF)), Aliya Khalidi (Former Assistant US Attorney for the District of Columbia), Saddam Salim (Member, Virginia State Senate (District 37)), and Sarah Wolek (Member, Maryland House of Delegates (District 16)), and was moderated by MAPS Deputy Communications Director and BBC Producer and Journalist, Zaineb Sharif.
If you're not yet a MAPS member, please register with MAPS National as members, associate members, or affiliates for free at https://mapsnational.org/, where you can join and support MAPS' mission of facilitating the career, community, and workplace development of Muslim American public servants.
