January is offically Muslim American Heritage Month in New York State. Muslim Americans in Public Service commends Governor Kathy Hochul for this welcome commemoration. This moment belongs to everyday Muslim families, workers, students, elders, and small business owners who make New York State their home. For generations Muslim communities across this state embody the values of mercy, justice, and service into the fabric of New York.

This month MAPS NY invites New Yorkers to come together across all faiths and backgrounds. Neighbors of every tradition are encouraged to learn from one another, visit each other's homes, organizations, and places of worship, so that every New Yorker feels seen and celebrated. Muslim Americans in Public Service NY State Chapter honors the diverse Muslim public servants working tirelessly with all faiths for every New Yorker. May this January deepen mutual understanding, strengthen coalitions, and inspire hope for all who call New York home.

MAPS further hopes other States follow the examples of Illinois, New Jersey, and now New York in declaring January Muslim American Heritage month.
