Seven years ago, a police cadet who died helping World Trade Center victims on 9/11 was honored at a Queens street renaming. Mohammed Salman Hamdani, the son of Muslim immigrants from Pakistan lived a block from the Bayside street.
What made the honor recognizing his service and sacrifice more notable, is that he was initially accused of involvement in the attacks themselves.
